Non-surgical care designed to relieve nerve pressure, reduce inflammation, and restore function without injections or surgery
A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner portion of a spinal disc (nucleus pulposus) pushes through a tear or weakness in the outer layer (annulus fibrosus). When this material presses against nearby nerve roots, it can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness.
Most herniated discs occur in the lower back (lumbar spine) and may contribute to sciatic symptoms when nerve roots are involved.
Age-related wear weakens the outer disc layer, making it more prone to bulging or tearing
Improper lifting or sudden twisting can place excessive pressure on the disc
Years of bending, sitting, or heavy labor increase disc strain
Car accidents or sports injuries can rupture a disc suddenly
At Coastal Chiropractic, treatment focuses on relieving nerve compression while promoting disc healing and long-term stability
Our goal is not temporary relief – it’s structural correction and restored function
If you’re dealing with a diagnosed or suspected herniated disc, schedule a consultation to determine if non-surgical treatment is right for you
