Sciatica Treatment in Port Charlotte & Englewood

Targeted, non-surgical care designed to relieve nerve pressure, restore mobility, and correct the underlying cause of sciatic pain

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes irritated or compressed, often due to disc bulges, herniations, spinal misalignment, or degenerative changes. Symptoms may include lower back pain, radiating leg pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness

Common Symptoms

Radiating Leg Pain

Burning or Tingling Sensations

Numbness in the Leg or Foot

Pain that Worsens When Sitting

Weakness in the Affected Leg

Cramping in the Leg at Night

What Causes Sciatica?

Herniated Disc

A bulging or herniated disc can press on nearby nerve roots in the lower back, especially L4, L5, or S1. This pressure can trigger inflammation and radiating pain down the leg.

Degenerative Disc Disease

As discs naturally wear down over time, they can lose height and hydration. This may narrow the space where the nerves exit the spine, leading to irritation and sciatic symptoms.

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal canal narrows, reducing space for nerves. This compression can cause leg pain, numbness, or weakness – especially when standing or walking.

Piriformis Syndrome

The sciatic nerve runs beneath (or sometimes through) the piriformis muscle. Tightness or inflammation in this muscle can irritate the nerve and mimic classic sciatica symptoms.

Injury or Trauma

Car accidents, sports injuries, or falls can c asue disc damage or joint misalignment, placing stress on nerve roots and triggering sciatic pain.

Prolonged Sitting / Poor Posture

Extended sitting or poor spinal alignment increases pressure on the lumbar discs. Over time, this stress can irritate the nerve roots that form the sciatic nerve.
